IMPORTANT INFO

 

If you don’t have an ID..get one before class! Come to the Admin office to get a temporary ID before school starts. You MUST have an ID while on campus. If you do not have one, you will be assigned detention. - Gordon

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER

 

Seniors. A week from Monday (NOV 30) is the deadline to submit the CSU and UC applications. Since, most CSU and UC campuses will be closed next week due to Thanksgiving break and mandated furlough days, plan to get your applications done by Wednesday so that the Carlmont Counselors have time to help you in case you run into any problems. – Dominguez

 

Seniors: Applying to college is expensive. It costs $60 per UC campus, $55 for CSU campuses, and private college applications range from $0 to $80 dollars each. Visit the College Center if you need (and think you may qualify) for College Application Fee Waivers. - Dominguez

 

Juniors and Sophomores: Do you want to know when your PSAT scores will arrive? And what you should do next spring to get ready for college? CLUBS AND PROGRAMS

 

Creative Arts Club:  Meeting today at lunch in room A-2.  Share your creative pieces with the members, either what you have given to  the club president or what you bring with you.  Further discussion on Japantown visit and funding opportunities.  See you there and then.     -- Langkusch

Students that have detentions MUST clear them if they want to go to Homecoming. Students CAN NOT go to school activities or dances unless they serve all detentions. GET THEM DONE!!!

 

CLUBS AND PROGRAMS

 

Please join SOS, ASB, AVID, ACADEMY and BUILD in collecting items to be shipped to SAMOA for those in need. Your teachers will let you know what you need to donate. – Bustamante

 

The Food Service Department will soon disable the ID cards for use during meal service. You will need to use your 5 digit PIN. If you have forgotten your PIN, please ask the adult cashier in the area that you go to for meal service. They can look it up for you. You must have your ID in order for us to give you your PIN. Let's get dirty! Join the Slow Food Club and friends this Sunday from about 10 AM to 1 PM for a fall garden party--we're playing with compost and getting ready to plant fall crops. Everyone is welcome--come out to play in the Carlmont garden for an hour or so. Snacks will be provided to participants. See you Sunday! – Nilson

These and other prizes are available to spirited Scots.  There will be a Class Spirit Award next week during Homecoming.  The class that wins the most points will have people eligible to win prizes.  So, seniors...do you have the most spirit?  Juniors?  Sophs?  Freshies?  Who's got the most spirit?  The winners will be announced at that Dance!  Go Scots! – Kelly

PERFORMING ARTS

 

Attend the Save the Music Festival in the Park on Sunday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.!  Three Stages of Music, including performances by the Carlmont Symphonic Band, Out of the Blue, and Treble Clef.  Music, dancing, food, friends and Fun!  In Twin Pines Park in Belmont.

 

Don't miss TONIGHT’S Rockin' for the Arts, a rock concert in our own Carlmont Performing Arts Center, TONIGHT at 7pm! The Carlmont Jazz Band and Choirs will start the night off with some rockin' tunes before the professional bands take the stage.  Tickets are $20 for Adults and $15 for Students and Seniors and can be purchased on line from the Carlmont home page or at the door the night of the show. – Tep

 

SPORTS

 

Attention all girls interested in trying out for basketball. The meeting for sign-ups will be Wed. Oct. 7th at lunch in the main gym. We will be discussing try-out times. You must attend this meeting if you plan on trying out. – Oliveira

Text Messaging Alert System

The Belmont Safe Schools Text Messaging Alert System, allows students, parents, relatives & school staff to receive important messages from their school or from Belmont PD, over their mobile devices (cell phone, smart phone, PDA, etc...). The system can be used to advise of school closures, traffic issues, and incidents on or near campus, etc... Because it is a text message, which goes to a mobile device, subscribers can receive the message if they are in class, the library, their dorm/apt or off campus. Subscribers sign up at their school's website and are in the system until they remove themselves, so for example, an incoming student and their family only have to sign up once during their years as a student at that school. Subscribers can remove themselves at any time. This system received initial funding from the City of Belmont as part of its Disaster Preparedness efforts and is maintained through the Belmont Safe Schools Program.
