If you don’t have an ID..get one before class! Come to the Admin office to get a temporary ID before school starts. You MUST have an ID while on campus. If you do not have one, you will be assigned detention. - Gordon

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER

 

Seniors. A week from Monday (NOV 30) is the deadline to submit the CSU and UC applications. Since, most CSU and UC campuses will be closed next week due to Thanksgiving break and mandated furlough days, plan to get your applications done by Wednesday so that the Carlmont Counselors have time to help you in case you run into any problems. – Dominguez

 

Seniors: Applying to college is expensive. It costs $60 per UC campus, $55 for CSU campuses, and private college applications range from $0 to $80 dollars each. Visit the College Center if you need (and think you may qualify) for College Application Fee Waivers. - Dominguez

 

Juniors and Sophomores: Do you want to know when your PSAT scores will arrive? And what you should do next spring to get ready for college? CLUBS AND PROGRAMS

 

There is a mandatory Polynesian meeting at lunch on Thursday.

 

There will be a SAPA meeting tomorrow in A3 to discuss our upcoming animal rights events. - Pierce

 

Come to the library to vote for the Teen's Top Ten books. Titles include awesome books like Breaking Dawn, The Graveyard Book and The Hunger Games. Schadler

Harmony, Carlmont's Gay/Straight Alliance, will meet for the first time this year in A-4, Mr. Hill's classroom, at lunch.  Join us today to begin plans for the year, for acceptance and support, and for the chance to make good friends and a profound and positive impact upon Carlmont and the world beyond. - Hill

 

Attention all Sojourners and Social Justice club members!  Come to our second meeting of the year on Wednesday September 16 at lunch in E-5.  We will discuss how you can go on the Sojourn to the Past trip, including fundraising opportunities.  If you want to attend Sojourn, this meeting is important!  See you at lunch on Wednesday in E-5! - Ramroth

 

Are you interested in the criminal justice system? If so, come to the first meeting of the Carlmont MOCK TRIAL Team on WED. Sept. 16 during lunch in room E-2.  MOCK TRIAL is a student club in which members compete against other schools in San Mateo County. We prepare a criminal case and then compete in real courtrooms at the Hall of Justice in Redwood City. See Mr. Gomez in room E-2 if you have any questions about Mock Trial! - Gomez

Chinese Culture Club - Interested in Chinese culture? CCC is having its first meeting of the year next Monday.  We will be discussing the plan for this coming year, including Chinese New Year Event and Chinatown trip.  Come to room T10 during lunch next Monday. - Chiang

 

The first Helping Humanity Club meeting will be this Thursday THE 17TH at lunch in Room A-2.  Bring your ideas for what we can accomplish this year.    - Langkusch

 

Do you have at least 3 A's on last semester's report card?  If so, you may be eligible to join CSF (the California Scholarship Federation).  Our first meeting will be this Thursday at lunch in room E-15.   Come by to sign up and see what CSF is all about! - Callan

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER

 

Seniors: Reminder that UC Berkeley will be in the College Center today (Tuesday) at lunch to share information with you about Cal and to inform you of a four-year scholarship they offer to a Carlmont student. For details come to the meeting. - Dominguez

 

Seniors: Sept 23rd is the last day to register online for the Oct 10th SAT or Subject Test (a late fee will apply). If you need help, visit the College Center during lunch or 7th period. - Dominguez

 

Juniors: Mrs. Dominguez, from the College Center, will be speaking to parents of the junior class at the PSG meeting tonight (Tuesday) in the Student Union at 6:30pm. She will go over any questions junior parents might have about helping you get ready for college. Encourage your parents to attend this meeting. - Dominguez

 

SPORTS

 

All Frosh-Soph Baseball players that signed up for fall ball, there is a mandatory meeting Tuesday at the beginning of lunch in the boys locker room. We will distribute the fall ball schedules to all the players that are signed up to play in the Goetz Bros. Fall baseball league! - Vallero

 

All those interested in playing boys soccer this year there will be a meeting in the weight room at lunch on Thursday. - Smith

Text Messaging Alert System

The Belmont Safe Schools Text Messaging Alert System, allows students, parents, relatives & school staff to receive important messages from their school or from Belmont PD, over their mobile devices (cell phone, smart phone, PDA, etc...). The system can be used to advise of school closures, traffic issues, and incidents on or near campus, etc... Because it is a text message, which goes to a mobile device, subscribers can receive the message if they are in class, the library, their dorm/apt or off campus. Subscribers sign up at their school's website and are in the system until they remove themselves, so for example, an incoming student and their family only have to sign up once during their years as a student at that school. Subscribers can remove themselves at any time. This system received initial funding from the City of Belmont as part of its Disaster Preparedness efforts and is maintained through the Belmont Safe Schools Program.
