IMPORTANT INFO

 

If you don’t have an ID..get one before class! Come to the Admin office to get a temporary ID before school starts. You MUST have an ID while on campus. If you do not have one, you will be assigned detention. - Gordon

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER

 

Seniors. A week from Monday (NOV 30) is the deadline to submit the CSU and UC applications. Since, most CSU and UC campuses will be closed next week due to Thanksgiving break and mandated furlough days, plan to get your applications done by Wednesday so that the Carlmont Counselors have time to help you in case you run into any problems. – Dominguez

 

Seniors: Applying to college is expensive. It costs $60 per UC campus, $55 for CSU campuses, and private college applications range from $0 to $80 dollars each. Visit the College Center if you need (and think you may qualify) for College Application Fee Waivers. - Dominguez

 

Juniors and Sophomores: Do you want to know when your PSAT scores will arrive? And what you should do next spring to get ready for college? CLUBS AND PROGRAMS

 

Creative Arts Club:  Meeting today at lunch in room A-2.  Share your creative pieces with the members, either what you have given to  the club president or what you bring with you.  Further discussion on Japantown visit and funding opportunities.  See you there and then.     -- Langkusch

CLUBS AND PROGRAMS

 

The Carlmont library will be reopening Tuesday, September 8th. Our regular hours are 7:45a.m.-3:45p.m.  Come to study, use a computer, or check out a book. Listen to the bulletin for future announcements. -Schadler

 

Are YOU smarter than a freshman? Come to the quad next Friday for the "Are you smarter than a freshman?" rally. That will be at lunch in the quad on Sept. 11th. - Kelly

 

Having trouble in math? If so, there is a new math tutoring program available after school called Peer2Peer! Peer2Peer can help any student, whether you are struggling in your current math class, need help with math homework or just need help to study. This free program is from 2:30 to 4:00, Monday -Thursday after school in room E-11. Peer2Peer will kick off on Tuesday, Sept. 8th and will continue throughout the school year. Come check it out! - Kelly

 

The Christian club is having a meeting TODAY in room C-13. Come and fellowship and discuss the activities for the year!

 

Are you creative?  Do you enjoy expressing yourself through the arts?  If so, then come to our first Creative Arts Club meeting this Friday, September 4 in room A-2 at lunch.  Find out what we are all about and meet others who also take an interest in their creativity. - Langkusch

 

The swing club has moved their meetings from Mondays to Thursdays at lunch. - Robeck

 

Hey to all u guitar players, rock lovers and social groupies!  Starting this Friday in E-7, is the now famous rock and roll club.  Come in and play, listen and socialize.  Everyone is welcome.  So once again, this Friday and every Friday at lunch in E-7 is the rock club.  Bang ur head baby! - Nichols

Do you care about animal rights?  Are you a vegetarian or do you want to find out about how you can eat healthier for yourself and the earth?  Come join SAPA, the Student Advocates for the Protection of Animals, for our first meeting of the year, TODAY, at lunch, in A3. - Pierce

Attention Juniors and Seniors!  Get some practice before you take the SAT.  There will be a MOCK SAT, given by Revolution Prep., on Saturday, September 19th from 9am - 1pm in the Student Union.  The cost is $20.  Sign up with Ms. McKee in room D21. - McKee

 

Attention Freshmen: If you pre-ordered a Class of 2013 T-shirt, you can pick it up in the Student Store at lunch time today. There are a limited number of extra T-shirts for sale, so come to the Student Store if you want to buy one. They are $10 each and PE approved.

 

SPORTS

 

All boy's interested in trying our for the Varsity, Frosh-Soph or Freshman basketball teams should attend the sign-up meeting this Thursday, September 3 at the beginning of the lunch period in the main gym. - Low

 

IMPORTANT INFO

 

Student Drivers: Parking permits for the Senior Lot are NOW ON SALE in the treasurer's office in room A9. Permits will be sold first come first serve, so make sure you have your application filled out, your driver's license and current proof of insurance. Permits for the church lots are ON HOLD until further notice as we are waiting for some paperwork to be signed. An announcement will be made when church permits are available. Parking enforcement begins Monday, September 7th. If you do not have a permit purchased and displayed in your vehicle by September 7th, you risk getting booted, ticketed, or towed! - Gillogly

 

OTHER

 

The 48th Annual United States Senate Youth Program will be held in Washington, DC from March 6th - 13th, 2009. Two students from each state will be selected as delegates to this prestigious gathering. Students will be able to experience the workings of the Senate in person.

Juniors & Seniors that are serving in an elected capacity in student government, civic or educational offices are eligible to apply for the Program.

The Deadline to apply is Oct. 1st, 2009. For more information about the California application process, you may contact:

Text Messaging Alert System

The Belmont Safe Schools Text Messaging Alert System, allows students, parents, relatives & school staff to receive important messages from their school or from Belmont PD, over their mobile devices (cell phone, smart phone, PDA, etc...). The system can be used to advise of school closures, traffic issues, and incidents on or near campus, etc... Because it is a text message, which goes to a mobile device, subscribers can receive the message if they are in class, the library, their dorm/apt or off campus. Subscribers sign up at their school's website and are in the system until they remove themselves, so for example, an incoming student and their family only have to sign up once during their years as a student at that school. Subscribers can remove themselves at any time. This system received initial funding from the City of Belmont as part of its Disaster Preparedness efforts and is maintained through the Belmont Safe Schools Program.
