Performing and Visual Arts:

performance

The Instrumental Music program has a decades-long history of excellence. Performing musical groups include Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, and Jazz Band, all of which regularly receive superior ratings at CMEA (California Music Educators Association) Festivals. There is also a piano class offered for students interested in learning keyboard musicianship. This year, the instrumental groups will join the choirs on a music department tour in the spring.

Choral Music is a dynamic and growing area with five different choral groups: Women's Choir, Treble Clef, Men's Choir, Chamber Singers and Snow Choir. All of the choral groups received extremely high scores at several choral compteitions in the past year. The choral groups tour every spring to perform at a variety of venues.

student_life_danceCarlmont's Dance program is very popular and offers classes from beginning to advanced. The more advanced classes participate in an extensive dance show in the spring that features a wide variety of student-choreographed productions.

Visual Arts (click here to visit our studio online!)

Carlmont's Visual Arts program continues to grow. Courses are offered in Drawing, Painting, 3D Design, Ceramics, Photography, Computer Graphics, AP Art History and AP Studio Art. Student artwork is displayed at an art show during Open House in the spring.

Text Messaging Alert System

The Belmont Safe Schools Text Messaging Alert System, allows students, parents, relatives & school staff to receive important messages from their school or from Belmont PD, over their mobile devices (cell phone, smart phone, PDA, etc...). The system can be used to advise of school closures, traffic issues, and incidents on or near campus, etc... Because it is a text message, which goes to a mobile device, subscribers can receive the message if they are in class, the library, their dorm/apt or off campus. Subscribers sign up at their school's website and are in the system until they remove themselves, so for example, an incoming student and their family only have to sign up once during their years as a student at that school. Subscribers can remove themselves at any time. This system received initial funding from the City of Belmont as part of its Disaster Preparedness efforts and is maintained through the Belmont Safe Schools Program.
