All students file a Four-Year Plan with the Guidance Department indicating goals for post-secondary education. Students and parents (with input from teachers and Guidance Advisors) choose from a spectrum of academic challenge to meet their goals and needs.

Work experience is a semester (10 variable credits) course that can be taken for no more than 2 years (40 variable credits maximum). Variable credit means credits received depends on hours worked. The more hours worked, the more credit you receive. Credits received are considered Practical Arts credit. |

Welcome to College Center at Carlmont!
The College Center is located in the A-wing, next to administration, adjacent to the Counseling Office. The center is run by Connie Dominguez, M.S.
Mrs. Dominguez offers individualized appointments and workshops to Carlmont students on how to prepare for and apply strategically to colleges and how to find resources to help pay for college (scholarships/financial aid). Click here to to see our School Profile.

Students must be enrolled in six classes (1st through 6th period or 2nd through 7th period). Seven classes are allowed when a student is taking music, sports or AVID.

Our Guidance Department helps students keep on track and makes them aware of college and career opportunities. The Guidance Department helps all students achieve the District's Gradution Requirements (District 220) .

Carlmont Shadowing Program Our 8th grade student Shadowing Program for the 2008/2009 school year will begin in early November 2008 and run until early March 2009. Further information on the Shadowing Program will be posted on this web site in early September 2008. You can download the "Shadowing Fax Back Request Form " (click here). Please keep in mind that faxed requests received prior to November 1, 2008 will not be processed. For information on the 8th Grade Transition Program, click here. |
